Identity and history
Mosul Reservoir lies outside the city and relates to the Tigris dam and water infrastructure. It is an artificial reservoir, not a natural lake within the old city. Power, irrigation, levels and ecology are separate subjects. Images document water and terrain at one moment; the city name does not make it an urban site.

Author historyLocal and cultural context
Mosul Reservoir is formed by Mosul Dam on the Tigris upstream of the city, serving water storage, irrigation and hydropower. It is an engineered landscape, rather than a city-centre riverfront attraction. Sources also discuss geology and maintenance of the dam. This entry supplies regional geography, without recommending swimming or leisure activities.
