Identity and history
Jalil Khayat Mosque is a modern religious building in Erbil. Domes, minarets and a large prayer space demonstrate a scale different from citadel housing. Its architectural vocabulary should be interpreted through composition and documentation, not dated to antiquity by resemblance. Religious use extends beyond the landmark image.
